So, Your Child Wants to Be a Dentist

Posted .

Does your child or teen tell you they want to be a dentist? If so, that’s great! Being a dentist is a great career choice. There’s a lot more to being a dentist than sticking your fingers in someone’s mouth and detecting cavities. Dentists help beautify and fix smiles too! In fact, there are a lot of great reasons to be a dentist, like:

-Dentists help people have a healthy smile, which can help them have a healthier overall body and can also help them feel better.

-Dentists improve people’s smiles, whether it’s by fixing a cavity or chipped tooth or by enhancing the appearance of the teeth and gums.

-Dentists get to work with science and art every day, which are both pretty cool subjects.

-Dentists are their own boss and they get to run their own business, which means they are leaders and they can determine their own work schedule and philosophies.

As you probably already know, it’s never too early to start planning and preparing for the career. In fact, there are things your child can do now to increase their knowledge and create an education plan. Typically, dentists achieve a college degree and then move on to dental school. Right now, your child can work on completing 8 hours of Biology with a lab, 8 hours of Physics, 8 hours of English, 8 hours of General Chemistry with a lab, and 8 hours of Organic Chemistry with a lab.
